What is Behavioral/ Mental Health Coaching?

Behavioral/Mental Health Coaching is a patient-centered approach that affords clients, at least partially, the ability to determine their goals and use self-discovery, or an active learning process coupled with content education, to work towards their goals. It also assists clients with the tools to self-monitor their behaviors to increase self-efficacy and accountability all in the context of having an interpersonal relationship with a coach.

A Behavioral/Mental Health Coach is a healthcare professional who is trained in motivational interviewing & strategies, communication techniques, and behavior change theory which are used to assist clients in developing intrinsic motivation and obtaining skills that will lead to creating sustainable change. These skills can help improve client health and overall well-being.
